Summary

BEST SELLER DEL NEW YORK TIMES

ENTRE LAS DIEZ MEJORES NOVELAS DEL AÑO PARA: PEOPLE, THE TONIGHT SHOW, THE WASHINGTON POST, THE NEW YORK POST, AMAZON, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, OPRAH ENTRE MUCHOS OTROS。

While what was supposed to be the big twist ending was incredibly predictable, Korelitz managed to still throw in some great thrills throughout the book with an incredibly original plot。 The main character is an absolute idiot - which I voiced out loud on more than one occasion to myself。 There was also a very clever use of the title toward the end of the novel which made me smirk。

This one was tricky…I almost didn’t finish because the first half moved so slowly。 It definitely picks up and holds your interest more in the last 1/3 but I’m just not sure it lives up to its title。 I could see it being an interesting movie though。

3。5 stars Interesting concept。 Only figured out a small part of the twist。

would recommend, felt (unintentionally) silly at times and the main character was a bit :/ but overall a good story

The first part of the story really captured my attention and I was glued to the pages。 But, about halfway, I could see the direction things were headed。 I even guessed how the story would end。 Otherwise, it was incredibly well-written。 To Jake, the word that comprised the relationship between a writer and their spark was “responsibility。” Once you were in possession of an actual idea, you owed it a debt for having chosen you, and not some other writer, and you paid that debt by getting down to w The first part of the story really captured my attention and I was glued to the pages。 But, about halfway, I could see the direction things were headed。 I even guessed how the story would end。 Otherwise, it was incredibly well-written。 To Jake, the word that comprised the relationship between a writer and their spark was “responsibility。” Once you were in possession of an actual idea, you owed it a debt for having chosen you, and not some other writer, and you paid that debt by getting down to work, not just as a journeyman fabricator of sentences but as an unshrinking artist ready to make painful, time-consuming, even self-flagellating mistakes。 Rising to this responsibility was a matter of facing your blank page (or screen) and muzzling the critics inside your head, at least long enough for you to get some work done, all of which was profoundly difficult and none of which was optional。 What’s more, you stepped away from it at your peril, because if you failed in this grave responsibility you might well find, after some period of distraction, or even less than fully committed work, that your precious spark…left you。 。。。more

Interesting concept theoretically—the question of ownership of ideas and literary “borrowing” and at what point the ethical line is crossed。 Logistically, the plot of Plot is predictable and the interior novel excerpts are cumbersome, not reading like a compelling, bestselling book at all, but instead reading like stage directions。

I was feeling 4 stars for most of this, but the end pushed me over to 5。 A truly inventive thriller that went places I wasn't expecting。 A really fun read overall。 I was feeling 4 stars for most of this, but the end pushed me over to 5。 A truly inventive thriller that went places I wasn't expecting。 A really fun read overall。 。。。more

I bought it was pretty good but it was not heard to figure the book out and seems a little strange that main character didn’t figure it out for himself which made me not like the ending so maybe a little harsh but removed a star for him being so stupid (well really the author making him so stupid)

But I am notorious for digging into the backlist of a new-to-me author and so I immediately found and downloaded it。•I didn't read The Plot (which came out in 2021) because it sounded eerily similar to John Boyne's A Ladder to the Sky, a novel I loved。 And there is a bit of similarity between the two。 But, as the protagonist in The Plot points out over and over again, there are only so many plots out there, so is it actually possible to “steal” one?•The Plot felt as though it were written by an entirely different author from her upcoming The Latecomer。 They are of course, vastly different books, but I found it fascinating that the voice was so unique in each work (and they were written SO close together- also amazing)。•The structure of The Plot is a novel within a novel and it lent itself really well to the unravelling of the crazy story。 I was riveted by this audiobook, which has the dubious distinction of being a book my husband and I both liked - that never happens。 We listened on our way to Houston last weekend and both agreed it was excellent。•I always fall hard for a book rich with literary references and storylines and The Plot is full of them。 From upstate New York's Yaddo to MFA programs and publishing world lingo, it was my kind of immersion。 I will pat myself on the back for figuring out the mystery that runs through this literary thriller, but it didn't spoil the experience whatsoever。 It’s a wild ride。•My only critique is that the last 1/4 got a wee bit slow, but it is quickly rectified with a knockout ending that was incredibly well crafted。 。。。more

I loved this book。 I loved it so much and was so gripped that I desperately wanted to give it 5 stars。 However, I couldn't help but feel the end twist was 1)guessable and 2)made almost no sense。 Spoilers: If Anna hadn't gotten into contact with Jake he wouldn't have know that the plot of his book was based on a true story and he wouldn't have gone looking for the anonymous messenger。 If she hadn't gotten involved with his life, no one would have known。 It just didn't sit right with me that the m I loved this book。 I loved it so much and was so gripped that I desperately wanted to give it 5 stars。 However, I couldn't help but feel the end twist was 1)guessable and 2)made almost no sense。 Spoilers: If Anna hadn't gotten into contact with Jake he wouldn't have know that the plot of his book was based on a true story and he wouldn't have gone looking for the anonymous messenger。 If she hadn't gotten involved with his life, no one would have known。 It just didn't sit right with me that the main conflict in this novel made little sense in the real world。 If you were a murderer who had successfully gotten away with your crimes, why would you risk it all for the sake of creative freedom? I don't know, I liked the book and it was so gripping but I feel like that part was lacking sense。 I understand why she did it and how it made their relationship dramatic and she got all the money from the book in the end, so she did remain in control but it could have so easily gone wrong for her that it wouldn't work if not in this exact context。 。。。more

In the past week, I have finished The Plot and watched The Undoing, a TV adaptation on You Should Have Known all by Jean Hanff Korelitz。 All fantastic! I will now be on the lookout for other titles by her to add to my TBR very soon。 The Plot was structured so uniquely and I absolutely devoured it in a few days。 I love books about books, but they often don't deliver in the way I hope。 This book delivered and more。 I really don't want to say much, other than pick it up!! 3。5 ⭐️I really enjoyed this one。 I did finally end up guessing the plot but it did take me 75% of the book or so before I did

Michelle

Not sure why this book is such a hit。 I guessed the mystery right away, and much of the book was a slog。 The most interesting moments satirized the literary world。 The only compelling moments in the detective work concerned his interview with the coroner。

imagine… a book called the plot with a plot about an author who steals the plot of a bookI typically don’t enjoy books with twists (where I know about the twist in advance), unless it’s a la Gone Girl where it takes a concept and wrings all the blood out。 This comes fairly close, and I absolutely adored the ending。 5-stars with a faster start to the roller coaster。

Plotzing about The PlotWhat a great read。 Engrossing, puzzling, anxiety-producing。 Made me want an immediate discussion group。 Ironic how a book about (blank) can be so original!

This book was really well written and its story was engaging。 I was able to predict some spoilers really early on in the book and that was disappointing。 That said, I still really enjoyed watching the cards fall in place in this thriller novel。 The main character's perspective and insights make this book a fun page turner。 This book was really well written and its story was engaging。 I was able to predict some spoilers really early on in the book and that was disappointing。 That said, I still really enjoyed watching the cards fall in place in this thriller novel。 The main character's perspective and insights make this book a fun page turner。 。。。more

This was a fun read。 This book has a plot within a plot within a plot。 Delightful and suspenseful story about a writer who has the chance to use a story his student never published to become famous。 The plot thickens and twists from there。 I saw some of it coming but not all but either way this story does not disappoint。 Enjoy!

A interesting read。 Ms Korelitz serves up a disappointingly insecure protagonist and fiendishly trite villain to explore the appropriation of plots for stories。 Each of us has our own story。 But is the telling of our story our exclusive "right"? Or can it behold by others? And if someone else tells our story to the world and tells it "better" than we can tell it, whose story is it, really? Slightly predictable, but on the other hand, I do really like when the author gives enough info that I can try to guess the ending!

Jacob is a bitter washed out writer and I didn't even reach 5% before I had to put it down。 I don't want to follow Jacob around as he mopes about how bad of a writer he is and how much "worse" his students are。 DNF。 Jacob is a bitter washed out writer and I didn't even reach 5% before I had to put it down。 I don't want to follow Jacob around as he mopes about how bad of a writer he is and how much "worse" his students are。 DNF。 。。。more

i had high hopes going into this book。 i was hoping that it would put me take me out of my slump and get me excited to read again。 but from the first sentence, i knew that was not going to happen because the writing was just a little more wordy than i wanted it to be。 but, i stuck with the book anyway because i wanted to know how it would end。 do i think the ending is worth the whole book? no。 do i think you should read it if you want a quick, easy read? no。

I really enjoyed listening to this。 I don't think I could've gotten through the long tangents about the writing process if I was physically reading。 The twists were predictable but I was still eager to learn all the details of the full explanation。 Though I enjoyed the book, I couldn't help thinking that it all could've been avoided if the author had simply included an author's note on how he got the idea for the plot。 So many books borrow ideas from other sources, it's hard to have a truly orig I really enjoyed listening to this。 I don't think I could've gotten through the long tangents about the writing process if I was physically reading。 The twists were predictable but I was still eager to learn all the details of the full explanation。 Though I enjoyed the book, I couldn't help thinking that it all could've been avoided if the author had simply included an author's note on how he got the idea for the plot。 So many books borrow ideas from other sources, it's hard to have a truly original plot these days。 。。。more
